FAQ
I am from a country whose citizens do not need a visa to enter Laos. Can I experience any problems at the border, while entering Laos?
You must meet certain requirements to enter Laos, even if you are not required a visa:
-
The purpose of your trip to Laos must be plausible and comprehensible.
-
Your passport should be valid for at least 6-12 months beyond your stay in Laos.
-
You must be able to finance your own living and travel costs.
-
You must hold a confirmed return flight to prove that you are prepared to leave Laos before the duration of the stay ends.
-
You must not pose a threat to security or public order.
Will my fees be refunded if my visa is refused?
All fees are non-refundable and will not be refunded if your visa application is not successful.
Can I extend the validity of my Laos visa?
The validity of a visa can be extended in some exceptional and force-major cases. You can get information about that directly at the Migration Department of Laos.
Do I have to participate in the Embassy in person for applying for Laos visa?
It depends on your country of residence or the embassy/consulate/Visa Administrative Center’s rules and obligations. In some countries, sending your documents via courier is enough to the embassy/consulate/Visa Administrative Center.
Can the Embassy/Consulate request me to provide additional documents or information?
The embassy may request you to provide additional documents or information, according to your personal situation, even after you have submitted all the required documents mentioned on the official website of the Embassy/Consulate/Visa Application Center.
Do I have to print the Approval Letter, or can I show the electronic version or photo of it to the Immigration Officer?
You are currently required to print out the e-Visa Approval Letter and present it to the Immigration Officer.
If my e-Visa rejected, can I apply again?
Yes, you can reapply using the Online service. Please ensure you submit the complete documents.
Do I need to line up at Visa on Arrival desk when I reach Laos with e-Visa?
There will be a special lane for e-Visa service at the arrival ports.
If I submitted my information incorrectly, can it be modified?
Applicants are responsible for the correctness of all information submitted during the application process. You cannot modify anything after submitting the documents.
Can I apply for a group visa?
Yes, you can apply for maximum 5 people per application.
My passport expiring soon, can I still get a Visa?
All visitors need to have a passport valid for more than 180 days from the date of arrival. If your passport validity is less than 180 days, you must renew or apply for a new passport before you can apply for an E-Visa.
My e-Visa was issued with incorrect information, what should I do?
If your E-Visa was issued with incorrect information, contact staff via email.
Do children or infants need a visa?
Yes, all applicants including children and infants must have a visa to enter the Lao PDR. For any further queries, please contact staff.
